This original Aboriginal bark painting is signed to the reverse by the artist Wadamul, identified as being from the Elcho Island region, Northern Territory, and dated 22 August 1977. Executed on natural eucalyptus bark using traditional earth pigments, the composition features layered geometric forms and ceremonial patterning consistent with Yolŋu visual language from Arnhem Land. The bark is mounted with traditional wooden supports bound with natural fibre. Works from this period are increasingly sought after, representing an important era in the documentation and wider recognition of Indigenous Australian artists.
