Original Australian pressing of the self-titled debut album by Bang the Drum, released in 1990 on WEA. Bang the Drum were an Australian pop-rock band formed in Sydney from the ashes of Tasmanian group Shifters, and this album remains their only full-length release. The band featured Steve Driver, Jim Reece, Geoff Robson, Jeremy Cole and J.J. Harris.
The album delivered polished late-1980s / early-1990s Australian rock and pop with a strong melodic commercial edge, and spawned the singles ‘Only You’, ‘Passion’ and ‘Stay Forever’. ‘Only You’ and ‘Passion’ both charted in Australia, while ‘Stay Forever’ also gained attention through its inclusion on the soundtrack to the Australian film The Big Steal. The album itself reached the Australian charts and stands as a relatively scarce local release from the era.
