LOT 183 – Set of 3 Handwoven PNG / Island Straw Hats

Set of three traditional handwoven island hats, likely Papua New Guinea origin, crafted from natural fibre with stitched construction. Local pickup Cairns 4870

A set of three traditional handwoven hats, likely originating from Papua New Guinea or surrounding Pacific Islands.

Each hat is constructed from natural plant fibres, hand-stitched and formed into classic conical and rounded shapes. The woven interiors show a tight basket-style pattern, while the exterior panels are reinforced with stitching and binding along the edges.

These hats were traditionally used for sun protection and everyday wear in tropical environments, and today also serve as decorative or cultural display pieces.

Condition: Used, showing natural wear consistent with handmade fibre items. Structurally intact with no major damage noted.

A great collectible set for those interested in Pacific Island artefacts, tribal craftsmanship, or natural fibre weaving.
