Traditional hand carved timber figure from the Sepik River region of Papua New Guinea. This striking tribal carving displays many of the distinctive characteristics associated with Sepik River art, including the elongated hook nose, stylised facial features, geometric decoration and symbolic body forms.
Carved from a single piece of hardwood and standing approximately 30cm tall, the figure is mounted on an integrated carved base and exhibits the bold sculptural style for which Sepik River carvings are internationally recognised.
