Australian $5 commemorative coin struck in 1988 by the Royal Australian Mint to celebrate the official opening of Australia’s new Parliament House in Canberra by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 9 May 1988. The reverse design features the Parliament House building and the denomination ‘5 Dollars’, while the obverse displays the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is presented in its original Commonwealth Bank distributed packaging with specifications card showing alloy composition of aluminium bronze, diameter of 38.74mm and mass of 28 grams. A significant commemorative piece from Australia’s Bicentenary year and a popular collectible among Australian decimal coin collectors.
