Original UK pressing of ’69’ by influential British duo A.R. Kane, released in 1988 on Rough Trade. Widely regarded as one of the foundational records of dream pop and an important precursor to shoegaze, ’69’ blends hazy guitars, dub textures, experimental production and atmospheric songwriting into a deeply original late-1980s alternative record.
Formed by Alex Ayuli and Rudy Tambala, A.R. Kane were among the most adventurous acts of the UK independent scene and are often credited with helping shape the sound that later influenced shoegaze, ambient pop and post-rock artists. ’69’ remains their best-known album and includes standout tracks such as ‘Crazy Blue’, ‘Suicide Kiss’, ‘Baby Milk Snatcher’, ‘Dizzy’, ‘The Sun Falls Into The Sea’ and ‘The Madonna Is With Child’.
This copy appears to be an original UK Rough Trade pressing and comes with the distinctive wraparound red promotional obi-style strip, adding to its appeal as a collectable copy. A strong piece for collectors of UK indie, dream pop, shoegaze origins and late-1980s Rough Trade releases.
