Original South African Heavy Artillery cap badge displaying the distinctive antelope head above crossed artillery cannons and the scroll reading ‘South African Heavy Artillery’. The badge also carries the unit motto ‘Bouthorion’.
The South African Heavy Artillery served alongside British forces during the First World War and later formed part of the Union Defence Force artillery units. These badges were worn on service caps as regimental insignia.
Constructed in brass with traditional tang fitting to the reverse. The badge shows natural patina and wear consistent with historic military service insignia.
